Download Lana Del Rey's Born To Die for FREE for a... →
I’ve been obsessed with Lana Del Rey and her seductive voice for several weeks now. It’s been impossible to go a day without playing her music in the car at least once. Among my favourites are “Blue Jeans” and “Born To Die” (which you can download for free right now on iTunes as mentioned above), and not too long ago I declared “Kinda Outta Luck”...

The No.1 Cardinal Sin of Twitter
The number one cardinal sin of Twitter a brand can commit (according to me) is the improper use of the @mention in the beginning of a tweet.
I cannot begin to tell you how much it drives me crazy when a brand “replies” to me—or a brand I manage—on Twitter when the [clear] intention was to broadcast the tweet to all of their followers, with me/my brand included as a mention or in hopes...

Late Night Cravings - 1/3/12
It’s almost 2am, and I’m hungry. I haven’t been able to eat very much because I’ve been sick, and now the holidays and the long weekend are over, and my craving build-up has gotten quite ridiculous. I’m frustrated and anxious knowing I can’t eat some of this food until I’m both better and until it’s the weekend so I can seek it out. Bah!
Current...

New Music Monday #4 - @TheElwins
So, um, oops. I totally forgot to do New Music Monday last week. Can you blame me? I barely got any sleep the weekend prior. I’m no good with no sleep. Anyway, here is number four!
I learned about The Elwins through my sister’s boyfriend’s mixtape CDs. He names these mixes after berries, i.e. Strawberry mix, Blackberry mix, Blueberry mix—because...

Look, Ma! I'm Riding the TTC!
When you live in Unionville, you have two choices of transportation if you work in downtown Toronto: drive, or take the GO. Oh, wait, there’s a third option: take the TTC.
But taking the TTC means driving to a subway station and finding (paying for) parking. Sadly, the drive and parking make this option take twice as long and cost twice as much. I suppose TTC is a good idea if working in the...

Life is good when you vote!
It’s Election Day!
As soon as I returned to my neighbourhood after work today, I voted! Voting leads to good things. I returned home to find an envelope on my desk: Jon and my Sunday Osheaga tickets arrived! And my house smelled of delicious, beautiful oven-roasted ribs. Yum.
On a more serious note, below are some of my thoughts about being a responsible citizen and exercising the right to...

Soggy, Foggy April Day
We’re driving into the clouds.
And living within the gentle white comfort.
Before I even left work today, I experienced headaches, dizziness and lightheadedness. It was as though my body was repulsed by the idea of entering the fog and the mist. As I lay in bed, the soggy, foggy weather is still breaking me down. Or maybe it’s a sign; a hint.
I need a vacation now. Or a staycation. Or a...

Luma Brunch with Tim Burton
I took quite the beating today, but I had fun. That’s the theme for the day as I went through a series of painful experiences but had a blast out of it all. We won’t talk about the pain though. Let’s stick with the fun parts when the boyfriend and I were at the TIFF Bell Lightbox!
We started our day bright and early (rainy/snowy and early rather) and headed down to the TIFF Bell...

Rainy Tasty Nappy Kind of Day
Everyone needs a sleep-in, get-picked-up-by-girlfriend-from-the-subway-station, greeted-with-cold-milk-tea, buy-spontaneous-snack, wind-down, enjoy-a-comfortable-nap kind of day. Today was that kind of a day.
After crashing at 10:45pm last night, I slept in today and enjoyed 13 hours of slumber. It sounds crazy, but it’s kind of typical of me to sleep too much on Saturdays. I need it to...

I Got Früli in my Hair
Somehow, having Früli in my hair reminds me of the Jason Mraz song “Lucky” and the line: I’ll put a flower in your hair… But no, it wasn’t as glamourous as hearing the music fill the air on an island with Mr. A-Z.
In short, I was at Real Sports with my boyfriend and friends waiting for a 8 pm reservation. This was a get-together for a friend’s going-away....

Girls on TV; Girls on Radio
Tonight has been a Girls, Girls, Girls kind of night…and by that I mean my television and radio consumption.
A nicely busy day at work ended at Jon’s with dinner, ice cream and lots of TV catching up. By lots I mean two episodes equaling a little over an hour. First up, the highly anticipated Nikita after the cliffhanger episode before the dreadful March hiatus.
SPOILER ALERT!

Beautiful Saturday for Shopping & Condo-Warming
Or it would have been if shops didn’t close so early at Shops at Don Mills!
It was quite disappointing to see the Coach storefront sign say “open ‘til 9pm on Saturdays” when the doors are locked and while the staff paid no attention to my failed attempt at pulling open the door at 6:30pm. Little did I know after checking the Shops website that all stores are only open until 6pm...

A Day at LG Fashion Week 2011
Today, I traded in television and film for fashion.
I (finally) attended my first shows at LG Fashion Week today, with thanks to Janet and Toronto Styles for the passes. What a fun and glamourous experience!
Since it was my day off, I slept in (not surprising), and we arrived at Heritage Court in Direct Energy Centre for the 2pm show. The place looked amazing, decorated in white and with chic...

fly me to the supermoon
So this “Supermoon” phenomenon that has everyone looking up ended up being quite the dud, at least in Toronto, right? It was supposed to be the biggest, brightest full moon in 18 years—14% bigger, according to NASA:
It seems in other cities, as in Washington D.C., the difference was quite noticeable. My sister texted me that she saw the moon closeup at Blue Mountain, and the...

So that Bradley Cooper…does he have really beautiful blue eyes or what?
Last night was the advance screening of Limitless, starring Bradley Cooper, Abbie Cornish and Robert De Niro. I guess you could also refer to it as “that Bradley Cooper movie.” I’ve been looking forward to this film ever since I watched the trailer, so imagine how thrilled I was to find out Alliance...

A Winning, Eventful Week
This week has been very kind to me. After two weeks and weekends of non-stop craziness (due to work and other obligations), I am—surprisingly—finding peace and happiness during the work week.
I usually don’t enjoy packing my weeknights with events in fear of exhausting myself and being tired at work, but, up until tonight, I had quite the week planned:
Monday: Pizza night with the...

spaghetti & coworkers
With the last few weeks at (and out of) the office being nothing less than immense stress and anxiety, the department lunch scheduled for Tuesday was impeccably timed. The entire Interactive team made our way through the cold from CQ to The Old Spaghetti Factory. Must have been quite a sight for anyone driving by to see a group of 40 people walking in twos as though we were kindergarten students...
invite from lovebirds
It’s hard to believe I’m at the age where the weddings I attend are those of my friends.
The first of my friends to get married had her wedding last July at the beautiful Royal Botanical Garden in Burlington. She looked stunning in her white dress and perfect make-up. I had never seem her made up before that day. It was unbelievable to see her transformed into a bride with a dress,...

welcome to canada, oprah!
As I walked into Corus Quay this AM, I was greeted by Oprah’s helpers—like Santa’s helpers but taller and better looking—with flowers and a postcard from Ms. Winfrey herself. It’s the day we have long anticipated…how did it get here so soon?! It’s the day OWN launches in Canada! Oprah is finally here.
After seeing her face all around CQ for months, it’s nice...

as a new month begins
This is a promise to myself:
I will blog regularly once again and document my happiness—only happiness—through photos and words. Blogging keeps me grounded and keeps me on a routine. It reminds me that I’m learning, improving and growing.
Darn my OCD. I feel more comfortable getting started again when a new month starts. Now that it’s March 1st, I can start anew.
New month. New...
