It’s hard to believe I’m at the age where the weddings I attend are those of my friends.
The first of my friends to get married had her wedding last July at the beautiful Royal Botanical Garden in Burlington. She looked stunning in her white dress and perfect make-up. I had never seem her made up before that day. It was unbelievable to see her transformed into a bride with a dress, accessories and make-up. It was almost as though she underwent a magical (à la Disney, where she got engaged) transformation and physically embodied the idea of growing up and crossing over to a new life stage. When she arrived at the reception in a royal purple gown, everyone at the table agreed she looked like a Disney princess.
Now another friend is set to marry this summer. I received her invitation in the mail today and was overjoyed, not (only) at the idea of attending another friend’s wedding, but knowing how much effort she’s put into her event and how much fun we’re all going to have. It’s going to be her night, just the way she wants it. And if anyone tried to ruin it for her, they will undoubtedly get a piece of me.
I’m excited for more weddings to come, mainly because I like to dress up and be made up. Just don’t ask me when mine is!
