Girls on TV; Girls on Radio
Tonight has been a Girls, Girls, Girls kind of night…and by that I mean my television and radio consumption.
A nicely busy day at work ended at Jon’s with dinner, ice cream and lots of TV catching up. By lots I mean two episodes equaling a little over an hour. First up, the highly anticipated Nikita after the cliffhanger episode before the dreadful March hiatus.

SPOILER ALERT!
I’m starting this off with a spoiler, so beware. Let me begin by saying how glad I am that Nikita and Michael are now working together as a team! I see a lot of Tweets calling the duo “Mikita,” but I thought it was just a fantasy we all had about the two teaming up (with Alex and Owen) against Percy and the evil division. Who knew it was in the cards all along? Whenever I see Maggie Q and Shane West Tweet each other, I feel all “fan-girl” and wonder if the two are dating. They would make a cute couple! Just think: the beautiful Maggie Q with her slender legs and the handsome Shane West with his deep, raspy voice. Hot!
If you aren’t a Nikita fan already, get on it! It is absolutely my favourite show right now.

My boyfriend and I only recently starting watching United States of Tara. When the spring TV season began, he was ready to give Hank Moody and the gang from Californication a try. But after screening through a few segments of the season three premiere of United States of Tara before uploading it to one of my websites at work, I encouraged him to make it our new show since it looked quite witty and funny. Am I ever grateful we followed through with this. Toni Collette, who plays Tara—amongst other personalities since Tara suffers from dissociative identity disorder, is just hilarious. It is such a trip wondering when she will transition into one of her alternate selves and who that next alter would be.
Besides great acting, I should note the comedy-drama is created by Diablo Cody, who wrote the script for Juno, Jennifer’s Body, and partially wrote for Burlesque. She’s also working on the adaptation for Sweet Valley High too!

Last female hero of the night: Jessie J. I can’t get over her single Price Tag. This Brit has quite the pipes on her. I especially love the live in NYC version on VEVO. I must have a thing for female British singers…especially if they have dark hair and great style. Fringe bangs help the cause.
Let’s get inside my head: I guess deep down inside, I wish I were British and a singer. So my love for Jessie J, Lily Allen and etc. must be because I wish I were them. Make sense? Great.
Since I’m neither British nor a singer, it’s back to consuming lots of fantastic TV and great music!
This morning, at 6:35AM on Tuesday, December 15, 2009, several members of Power Unit Youth Organization and I were live on the world-famous 104.5 CHUM FM for a radio appearance. The assistant morning show producer of Roger, Darren & Marilyn had been in contact with me for the last two weeks to get us on their show to promote our event, Power Unit’s Christmas Wish, the official organization launch party and Christmas fundraiser in support of the CP24/CHUM Christmas Wish.
As a loyal listener of CHUM every single day, I was in absolute shock when I first received the email from Stefanie Canonico. It was probably the equivalent of someone receiving a hand-written letter from…what’s a good comparison? Brad Pitt? Angelina Jolie? Yes, it was that exciting for me. I had never gotten out of bed so quickly—and it takes effort to get me out of bed.
None of us had ever done a radio interview before—most definitely not one on a radio station listened to by nearly one million people per day or one that early in the morning—so we were thrilled to be in a real studio with local celebrities, even if it meant waking up at the ungodly hour of 4:30AM.
In all honesty, I have been dreaming about working for CHUM FM since I first tried my hand at radio in first-year university. I imagined myself as the next Jeff Howatt and reading news updates at regular intervals. I even imagined myself doing band interviews, or at least watching on the sidelines as the young intern with the camera and the computer, blogging away about my celebrity encounter.
Thank you to Roger, Darren, Marilyn, Tom, Stefanie, and Loretta for your encouraging words, your warm welcome, and your help in promoting our event. This is the biggest opportunity we have ever had to promote Power Unit Youth Organization. I would sing Christmas carols for you again any day. I promise I will better rehearse next time!
